Climate Fightback Challenge

29th August 2021

10.30am - 4.30pm

Registration still open!

The Challenge:

How far can you travel, without using motorised transport?

This is a free, fun and family-friendly carbon-free event for all residents of Bosley, Danebridge, Heaton, Rushton Spencer, Swythamley and Wincle on 29th August from 10.30am to 4.30pm

The aim of the event is to bring local people together through a series of fun challenges and to raise awareness about climate change and the positive actions that we as a community can take together to help.

What is the challenge?

The Challenge is to see how far can you travel using carbon-free methods of travel such as walking, cycling, wheelchairs, horse, as well as any specialist or novelty conveyances e.g. skateboards, scooters, stilts, rickshaws, etc.

The basic idea is to visit a number of Staging Posts between 10.30a.m. and 4.30p.m. Individuals, families or groups can set their own Challenges, by deciding how many Staging Posts they will set out to visit; what method of travel they will use; and by which route they will travel. These will then be recorded when you register.

NB. These challenges will NOT be races. The object will just be to complete the chosen challenge within the time. So it will be possible for some time to be spent at Staging Posts along the route – to have a rest, enjoy some food and drink, and take part in activities such as quizzes etc.

How to plan a challenge

The idea is to start and finish a Challenge at a Staging Post, and to visit a number of Staging Posts along the way.

Some of the Staging Posts will offer refreshments, whilst others will provide information, activities and / or entertainment. All Staging Posts will provide Proof of Visit Tokens to entrants.

If you don't yet know which staging posts you intend to start and finish at, and which staging posts you intend to visit inbetween, you can check the staging post map at the bottom of this page. You can also view the staging posts on Google Maps, or download printable Ordnance Survey maps using the links below.
